VR, Virtual Reality medical applications and Aging and Alzheimer’s

Post Doc Position Available at USC - If you have an interest in Aging and Alzheimer’s and VR applications, there are 5 NIA post-doc positions available here at the USC School of Gerontology.

Skip Rizzo says:

I just got word that I can have one of these slots to supervise a Post Doc to do some VR work. This is actually quite a flexible post doc position (don’t let the title below throw you) that would offer a range of opportunities depending on your interests. If a qualified applicant would like to apply and is accepted into the program, I have some “ready-made” VR projects with already built environments that could be used for investigating visuospatial assessement in healthy aged and early Alzheimer’s patients using some of my applications and as well using a virtual Morris Water Maze scenario in collaboration with Robert Astur. We are interested in early detection of Alzheimer’s Disease and on how well, standard and VR assessment predicts real world performance. We also have a couple of other VR applications that could be used if the applicant had a meaningful research question that they could be applied to. (i.e., driving, executive function, memory, attention). As an aside, this is the same post doc program that brought me to USC back in 1995. I have pasted some info below, but if you are interested in more info, please contact me directly. I think this would be an excellent opportunity!!!

Best Regards,

Skip Rizzo
